Every season brings a new conversation between the designer and the material. Spring is particularly generous — the market fills with blooms that feel alive in a way that no other season quite matches. At Sculpted Alchemy, we let the flowers lead. Here is what we are working with right now and why.
Bird of Paradise
There is nothing subtle about bird of paradise and that is exactly why we love it. Architectural, dramatic, and impossible to ignore — it brings an instant sense of scale to any composition. We use it as an anchor in our larger arrangements, letting its natural form do the structural work while softer blooms fill in around it. It is the kind of flower that makes a room feel like it was designed around it.
Fritillaria
If bird of paradise is the statement, fritillaria is the intrigue. Its downward-hanging bell-shaped blooms add a quality of movement and mystery to any arrangement that few other flowers can match. We have been reaching for it constantly this season — it bridges the gap between wild and sculptural in a way that feels entirely unique to the moment.
Delphinium
Tall, saturated, and unapologetically blue — delphinium is one of those flowers that earns its place in a composition simply by existing. We use it to add vertical movement and a depth of color that grounds even the most complex arrangements. It photographs beautifully, which never hurts.
Ranunculus
Soft, layered, and endlessly romantic — ranunculus is the flower that makes people stop and look closer. We love it for its versatility. It works equally well in an oversized wildflower composition as it does in a tight, minimal arrangement. This season we have been pairing it with darker foliage for contrast that feels editorial rather than sweet.
Seasonal Foliage
The flowers get the attention but the foliage does the work. This season we have been leaning into textured greens — dusty miller, eucalyptus, and trailing ivy — to give our arrangements the grounded, garden-forward quality that defines the Sculpted Alchemy aesthetic.
